Where Should I Mount A Brake Controller on the 2017 Toyota Tacoma Sport?
Question:
Placement for prodigy P2 trailer brake controller for new 2017 Toyota Tacoma sport?

We have had the opportunity to install this brake controller on a 2012 Toyota Tacoma. Our installers chose to mount the Prodigy P2, # 90885 to the left of the steering wheel (see photo). On your 2017 Tacoma Sport, the hood release latch and some other electrical controls are in this area, but there is still room to mount the controller beneath them. A taller driver may want to make sure that the brake controller will clear their knee before mounting in this location. If you are willing to do some modifications to your truck, you can remove the empty "pocket" on the dash and install the brake controller in this slot.
I've attached a video of this installation on a 2012 Toyota Tacoma with a factory 7-way connector. Since you have the tow package that includes the factory 7-way connector, you can use the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3031-P for easily connecting your brake controller.
