Installing a 7-Way on a 2006 Ford F-150

Question:

I need a trailer wiring harness for my 2006 Ford F150. Im looking at the Tekonsha # 118247 and the #118242. Is one of these the correct harness for my truck. I see a reference to fitting a 2004 Ford F150 but not the 2006. I need this harness as soon as possible, so any help on what I need will be greatly appreciated...Thanks in advance...

I do have a solution for you to install a 7-Way connector on your 2006 Ford F-150 but, as you stated, both the Tekonsha # 118247 and the # 118242 are not compatible.

If you have the US Car Connector at the rear of your F-150 then you can simply install the Reese # 74682.

If, however, you do not already have a 7-Way that you are trying to replace you will need to install the Hopkins Plug-N-Tow # 40185 as well as the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7. The # ETBC7 will plug into the Hopkins 4-Pole connector and then you will run wire from the additional wires to the wiring harness that is located on the underside of your F-150 usually around the spare tire location.

Should you need a brake controller I highly recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195. You will install this in your F-150 using the Adapter # 3035-P. I have attached a video of this installation process on a 2005 F-150 for you to follow.

I have also attached a video of the # ETBC7 being installed on a 2013 F-150.
