We have a solution for you. I recommend the Tekonsha ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit, # 119250KIT.
The ZCI wiring harness will allow you to connect a 4-pole trailer connector to your Mercedes ML350 with out cutting or splicing into the OEM wiring of your vehicle. The harness uses sensors that clamp on to the wires of your ML350 that will be needed to run the lighting functions on your trailer.
The wiring harness kit will include a circuit tester that will help when trying to locate your ML350's wiring that will run your trailer lights.
I have include two video links for you to review. One is a product review of the Tekonsha ZCI harness and the other is this product being installed on a 2015 BMW X5. As of today, we do not have a video showing the ZCI being installed on a 2009 Mercedes ML350, but the BMW video will give you an idea of how a typical installation of this product will be on a vehicle.
