Installation of ETBC7 Brake Controller Wiring in a 2009 Buick Enclave

Question:

I have a 2009 Buick Enclave without Tow package. This means I need to tap into the stoplight switch on the brake pedal to install ETBC7. Seems easy enough but I am reading between 1V not depressed and 2.5V fully depressed on the middle pin of 3 wires coming off of the switch above the brake pedal and nothing on the others. I dont think this is correct. Do I need Roadmaster stoplight switch 751221? Thank you

On your 2009 Buick Enclave, you do not need the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit - Acadia/Enclave/Outlook/Traverse # RM-751221 to install your Brake Controller and Universal Brake Controller Wiring Kit # ETBC7. The signal from the wire when depressed is all you need and the 2.5V is obviously working for your vehicle tail lights. The brake controller will send the necessary power to your trailer brakes and has the ability to amplify that signal. That is what makes the brake controller adjustable.

If you don't already have a brake controller, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 because it is extremely reliable and easy to use. It is a proportional brake controller so it will send the same amount of braking pressure at the same time as you apply the brakes in your 2016 Thor Vegas. This controller has a simple LCD screen that takes code deciphering of most brake controllers out of the equation. It has 3 preset boost levels to make things really easy.
