Correct Replacement Leaf Spring for 2,800-lb Dexter Axle

Question:

Can I use 3500 lb leaf spring on 2800 lb axle? I need to replace the leaf springs on my tandem axle RV trailer. The axle is a Dexter model DT8 and it states its capacity is 2800 lbs. I measure the eye to eye distance of the leaf spring at different lengths ranging from 23 1/2 inches to 24 1/2 inches. Is SP-216275 the proper replacement for my leaf springs?

The distance between the spring eyes should be measured from the center of each eye. I've attached an image showing the correct locations to measure to obtain leaf spring measurements. However, from the given information, it sounds as though you have the correct replacement part with the 3-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e59SR. I've also attached an article on double-eye trailer suspension systems for you.
