The correct length for the axle on your 6 foot 6 inch wide trailer will depend on a couple of items.

When determining the axle length, you will want to take into account the width of the tires/wheels you intend to use, along with the spindle length. With this in mind, you will want to start with the overall width of your trailer and its fenders/wheel wells, then subtract the widths of your two chosen wheels and the lengths of the two spindles to determine the axle tube length.

If you are just looking to replace an existing axle on your trailer, you will want to measure the existing unit from the hub face (surface where wheel attaches) to the opposite hub face. Then to ensure a compatible replacement, you will also measure from the center of the leaf spring to the center of the other leaf spring. For example, the Dexter Trailer Axle # 35545I-EZ-89 has a hub face length of 89 inches and a spring center dimension of 74 inches.

I have attached a link that will take you to our available selection of trailer axles that you can look through.
