Troubleshooting T-Connector Wiring Harness # HM41115 Blowing Fuses
Question:
I recently purchased a # HM41115 T-connector. My brake lights and turn signals work fine with the T-connector not plugged in. Once I plug in the T-connector, it will blow my brake light fuse shortly after and has blow my turn signal fuse a couple times. This is with no trailer hooked up to it. If i unplug the T-connector, lights work find and do not blow fuses.

It sounds like there is a short in the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # HM41115 or there is a problem at the factory connection. I recommend cleaning the terminals on your connection and making sure you don't have any bent pins. Check these pins for function using a circuit tester like # PTW2993.
If that checks out then you can use the circuit tester to check each function of the harness to find the culprit. Replace wiring or harness as needed.
