2015 Silverado LTZ Z71 Crew Cab Installing Cap With Brake Light And Power Tailgate Lock
Question:
I am trying to install a Leer 100XQ. I can find some info on where the CHSML wire is located but there are no pictures of the actual location. I am wondering if there is a wire under the dash and I am also wondering where it is at the rear of the truck. This is for hooking up the third bake light. There are several threads on the web about it but nobody is very clear about where the wire is and there are no pics of the locations. I am also trying to set up the auto lock for the tailgate lock. According to the directions the lock is brown and yellow wire and the unlock is the gray wire located in the bundle in the drivers side door sill. Is this correct? 2015 Silverado LTZ Z71 Crew Cab

According to the installation details on the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock - Power - Black # PAL8140, the wires you are looking for are found at the door sill and are tan with a yellow stripe for one wire and grey for the other wire. It is recommended to connect the wires in whatever order and test and then switch if necessary to match locking function.
The CHSML wire for your cap is like you noted not easy to find. I recommend either tapping into the cold side of your brake switch at the pedal and running a wire to your cap or tapping into the center light at the rear of your truck and running the wire from there. Either way you will have an isolated brake signal wire for your Leer 100XQ cap. I recommend using # 12-1-1 for the wire.
