Roof Mounted Basket to Carry Spare Tire on 2016 BMW X1 with Factory Roof Rack

Question:

Will this fit the BMW X1 2016 , cross bar made by BMW. Im planning to buy this so I can place my spare tire on the roof for a long drive. Can you recommend a spare tire holder that I can attach to the Thule roof rack basket, do you think it can support the weight of the full size spare tire. I try to research on the roof carrying capacity of X1 BMW, I cant find one. It has moon roof and glass till the back . What other roof rack basket can you recommend for my X1 2016? A lighter one that fits my car and can carry the full size spare tire.

I checked with Thule and they show that the Canyon cargo basket # TH859XT fits the 2015 model year BMW X1 with factory roof rack but no data on the 2016. If the 2016 has the same roof rack as the 2015 then it will fit.

For a spare tire carrier Yakima has # Y07076 which is designed to attach to one of their baskets, such as # Y07070, but you could use it on other baskets (some modification may be required).

The Canyon has a weight capacity of 150 pounds and the spare tire on your X1 is likely half of that; maybe less.

There are numerous carriers but none that I would say are better options than the Thule or Yakima baskets listed above.
