Recommended Weight Distribution Hitch for 2010 Sequoia and 2009 CruiserRV Viewfinder FB21

Question:

This is a trailer that maxes out at 6130 lbs and has the V-shaped front. Need to make sure there is clearance for attaching the clamps to the trailer. Also considering sway control as an option, but not sure its needed on this rig. Thank you for any information you can provide.

When choosing a weight distribution system, the most important factor to consider is the total tongue weight of your setup. This will include both the loaded tongue weight of your trailer, along with any added cargo weight coming from behind the rear axle of your 2010 Toyota Sequoia. Ideally, this number should fall somewhere around the middle of the system's operating range.

A trailer's tongue weight should be 10-15 percent of its total weight. With this in mind, we can estimate a loaded tongue weight of 613 to 920 pounds using the trailer's 6,130-pound GVWR. You can also verify your trailer's loaded tongue weight, as if it is ready for a trip, with a tongue weight scale like the etrailer # e99044. The attached article explains in more detail on how to find your total tongue weight of your towing rig.

With that in mind and looking at the information that you provided, a system like the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 12K GTW, 1.2K TW, # RP66560, would work well if your total tongue weight is between 600-1200 lbs. The Steadi-Flex's mounting can be mounted 27 to 32 inches back from the center of the coupler. The Reese Steadi-Flex also includes integrated sway control to limit side-to-side movement.

A trailer ball with 1-1/4 inch length shank, like # A-90 in 2 inch or # 19286 in a 2-5/16 inch, will be required for this WD system.
