The Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class II - 1-1/4" # 36523 is a confirmed fit for the 2018 Subaru Forester. We just recently added it to our fit guide as Draw-Tite confirmed its fit. They also confirmed a fit for the 2 inch # 75876. I recommend this hitch receiver because of the many options for accessories and ball mounts that the 1-1/4 inch hitch receiver does not offer.
If you will be towing with this hitch, we also have a confirmed fit in the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118467. This custom-fit T-One connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located in your rear cargo area, either behind the driver's-side trim panel or in the spare tire compartment. You will need to remove some interior paneling to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the connector, insert the provided fuse into the in-line fuse holder.
For a ball mount, I recommend the B&W Tow & Stow 2-Ball Mount - 2" Hitch - 5" Drop, 5-1/2" Rise - 10K - Black # BWTS10037B. This will give you an adjustable mount to tow multiple trailers level. It also has two integrated hitch balls to fit a 2 inch coupler or a 2-5/16 inch coupler. This ball mount has a really nice and clean looking stow away option that will protect your shins when not in use. I recommend using a hitch lock like # e98882 to protect your investment.
