Can Fulton Fast-Lok Coupler, # F346000301 Be used on a Majic Tilt Aluminum Trailer
Question:
i have a majic tilt tandem axle aluminum trailer that i had the surge brakes removed. i want to remove the old surge coupler that was mounted with 3 bolts. will this work for me? i want to install a coupler with at least a 5000# rating. does a aluminum trailer need more than 2 bolts?

An aluminum trailer does not necessarily require a specific amount of bolts for the coupler. But the coupler will require a certain number of bolts. You old heavier surge coupler was probably a lot longer and needed 3 bolts. The Fulton Fast-Lok Coupler, # F346000301, is smaller and only needs 2 bolts. The third hole should be capped or plugged or even run a bolt through it to help keep out moisture and road grime.
I recommend that you get a coupler that has the same bolt hole size and pattern as the holes that are already on the trailer. You would not want to drill any more more holes than are already there. The distance between the mounting holes on this coupler is 3 inches on center. It also fits a 3 inch wide tongue.
