Direction of Wind Fairing While Installed in a Truck Bed
Question:
Which direction should the wind fairing on the cargo rack face when mounted in the bed of a truck? Im using the Yakima BedRock mounting system and have seen them mounted both front and rear facing.

Expert Reply:
You can mount the wind fairing either way; toward the cab or toward the tailgate. I recommend facing the wind fairing towards the cab because of the airflow that comes over the cab and into the bed will then be then rerouted upward creating less resistance while the fairing is mounted forward facing. The wind fairing, when used on a cargo basket mounted in the bed of a pickup truck, will not be nearly as effective as when used on the roof of the vehicle.
