Using a 1990 Chevy 3500 to Dolly Tow a 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Question:

Using a tow dolly with a 1990 Chevy 3500 4x4 I need to tow my daughters 2007 PT Cruiser. Using an online system returned the result that this workhouse of a truck was ineligible for using their tow dolly. I find this hard to believe. Any insights appreciated.

Since tow dollies, like the Roadmaster Tow Dolly with Electric Brakes # RM-2050-1, are not vehicle specific, you will just need to make sure that your 1990 Chevrolet 3500 has the appropriate equipment and weight capacity rating to dolly tow the 2007 Chrysler PT Cruiser. The only compatibility issue that I can see as a possibility is if the hitch ball on your Chevy is too high for the tow dolly.

I have attached a helpful article that explains how to select the correct ball mount for your towing application as well as a link to our selection of ball mounts. A popular ball mount option for many truck owners is an adjustable ball mount, like the Fastway # FA42-00-2600, which can be used for many different towing jobs.

Not only will you want to consult the owner's manual for your Chevy about towing weight capacities, but you will also want to consult your owner's manual for the PT Cruiser as well for any special instructions related to dolly towing.
