What Size Trailer Frames Will Strait-Line Weight Distribution w Sway Control, # RP66074 Fit
Question:
I am looking at your item RP66074. I need to know the frame thickness this item will accommodate as my frame on my trailer is 2 wide. Also I do not have very much frame rail extending out in front as I have a V nose trailer and it seems to be a smaller distance from the box of the body to the ball. So I need to know the distance from the ball of the hitch on the trailer receiver shown in you installations to the rear most mounting area of the sway bar that is lifted up by the chains. Thanks

A trailer frame that is 2 inches wide will be fine. The Strait-Line Weight Distribution w Sway Control, # RP66074, will fit trailer frames up to but not exceeding trailer frames that are 2-1/2 inches wide. From the center of the ball to the center of the curved end of the trunnion bar is 31 inches.
If your V-nose trailer does not offer enough space on the top of the trailer frame, but the side of the frame is still exposed further back, you could use Chain Hangers for Reese Weight Distribution Systems, # RP58305. These bolt to the side of the trailer frame so you do not have to mount anything on top of the frame.
To complete the weight distribution you are looking at, you would need to add an adjustable shank, like # RP54970, and a properly sized ball like # 19286.
I have included a link to the installation details for the weight distribution system for you to view. I have also included a link to our FAQ article on weight distribution and sway control for you to view.
