Will Using Reese Goose Box Allow Clearance When Turing With a 2014 Ram 2500 With 6 Ft. Bed

Question:

Hello, I purchased a new truck To me yesterday. It is a 2014 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins 5inch Lift, w/ a 6foot 4inch bed. I traded in a 1500 I pulled my 5th wheel with. Hate the 5th wheel my bed is useless. I had a sliding 5th wheel in my old truck and I want to switch to this and install a gooseneck rather then the bulky 5th wheel. Can I use this conversion with a 6foot 4inch Bed? Please say yes lol. Thank you!

The Reese Goose Box, # RP85FR, does not offer additional clearance for short bed trucks above what the stock pin box would offer.

However, using a offset gooseneck ball, if there is one available for your hitch, can typically extend the pivot point toward the rear of your truck.

To find out if your Ram 2500 will have enough clearance to make tight turns you will need to insert a few measurements into the following formula:

(A + B) - C = Clearance
A = Distance from the gooseneck ball to the truck cab
B = Offset used, like if you used a Offset Extension Ball # 19308
C = Width of the nose of the trailer divided by 2.
