Recommended Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2017 GMC 2500

Question:

Hello My old truck is a 2006 gmc 2500Hd diesel with a short box and a reese classic 18 5th wheel hitch with no slider. My new truck is a 2017 gmc 2500hd diesel short box with the gmc oem puck system. I tow a 34ft Heartland Sundance and the old truck and hitch without a slider worked fine. What hitch do you recommend for the new truck? Do I need a slider? Please help

With a short bed truck like your 2017 GMC 2500, you will need to use a sliding fifth-wheel hitch to avoid contact between your Sundance and new truck when making sharp turns. I recommend taking a look at the Demco Hijacker # DM8550035, which has an automatic sliding system so you do not have to get out of your 2500 to engage the slider when turning. This hitch will install with the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter # DM6194, which simply locks into place via the puck system in the bed of your GMC.

I have attached a link to a review video of the Demco for you to take a look at, as well as a help article on fifth wheels you may find useful.
