Tow Package Wiring Location for an Electric Trailer Brake Controller on a 2009 Chevy Silverado
Question:
2009 chevy silverado brake controller were is the plug and play at under the dash

Expert Reply:
The 2009 Chevy Silverado has the tow package wires for a brake controller located under the dash, but Chevy/GMC no longer included a plug or port for a brake controller wiring harness after 2007. However, finding the wires is easy and all you will need to do is splice in the brake controller wires by function.
You will find the tow package wires below the steering column, located to the left of and above the brake pedal. The wires will be held together with a white tag that shows the function of each wire.
Connect the red tow package wire to the black brake controller wire. Connect the dark blue tow package wire to the blue brake controller wire. Connect the light blue tow package wire to the brake controller red wire, and connect the white wire on the truck to the white wire on the brake controller. Any additional wires can be taped up and stowed out of the way. If the tag reads different functions for the wires, make sure to follow it.
The functions of the brake controller wiring are:
White = ground
Black = 12 volt power
Blue = brake output
Red = stop light switch
I have included a link to an FAQ article that will help in the installation of brake controller like # 90885 along with a link to the installation details for the brake controller for you to view.
