Troubleshooting Brake Controller Install on 2012 Chevy Silverado that Shows No Connection

Question:

Hello ETrailer Expert. I purchased a new P3 and installed for 2012 Chevy Silverado. I the wires are connected as instructed Black pig tail wire to Red wire of the truck, blue to blue, white to white, and Red pig tail wire to white/blue of the truck. Red wire are connected to the battery. When the trailer are connected to the truck with 7-way to flat 5 pins, P3 are on and shows No Trailer Connection. All the lights on trailer work signal lights, stop light, ect. With the trailer connected - engine on - Brake pedal pressed and the stoplight voltage number increased, Output voltage and Output current shows 0.00. I am not sure what I missed or did wrong. Please help!

In nearly every case when a brake controller isn't showing a trailer connection the problem is that there is corrosion on the 7-way pin that carries this circuit. Typically cleaning this helps.

For a Chevy truck though the problem can also be related to the wires under the hood not being connected properly.

Check out the attached FAQ article that covers all the wires that need to be connected under the hood of the truck to complete the brake controller wiring.
