Are Bulldog and Stallion Jack Replacement Parts Interchangeable

Question:

I have a stallion trailer jack, patent number 4793?64. I am in need of the screw and the nut assembly for the jack. All research sends me to your web site for a Bullydog replacement part. Are they interchangeable?

The Stallion brand of jacks has no relationship to Bulldog products. This was confirmed by my Bulldog contact.

It does happen that a product design can be copied by a competitor. This could, theoretically, mean the copycat brand's customers could potentially use parts from the original maker's product, which would save the copycat company the big expense of supporting "their" product with replacement parts. That parts support may not sound like a big deal but I can assure you that a company that does support its products with original spare parts has to spend significantly to do so and that cost is built into the product's retail price.

In this scenario the copycat company benefits from both pirating the original design and the level of spare parts support from the originator whose product they knocked off. As the saying goes, "All is fair in love and war".

Bulldog naturally has never tested any of their parts with a competitor's products. Some may work well enough to get by, some may work perfectly, but there is no way to know until some die-hard owner tries the alternate part to see if it will work.

The substitute part should at least be rated for the same capacity as the original since this would tend to increase the odds of it working. Part # TJD-12000-RODNUT that you referenced is a replacement rod and nut for 12,000-lb-rated 3-1/2-inch x 3-1/2-inch square tube jacks.

I linked our main page for trailer jacks which includes replacement parts.
