Troubleshooting Boat Trailer Wiring Issue Where Light Go On And Off When Safety Cable Is Moved
Question:
When I hook my fishing boat trailer to my car, the lights dont always work on the trailer. When I move the safety cable they come on and off. I have a popup camper as well, with no issues. So I know its the trailer not the car. Please advise? Thank you kindly

Helpful Expert Reply:
Since when you move the safety cable the lights come on and off, it is a dead giveaway that the ground wire connection on your trailer is bad. I recommend cleaning that connection and making sure you have a bare metal on metal ground without corrosion or debris. You may need to relocate the ground for your wiring if you can't solve the issue by cleaning up the location of the current ground to the trailer frame.
