Recommended King Pin Location For B&W Patriot 5th Wheel 18k Hitch

We have a 2015 Dodge with rails already in bed that was used for an older Reese hitch The bed is 8 We want a Patriat 18k regular hitch. Our RV is a 35foot fifth wheel Where should the kingpin be over the Axle right over or in front and how much? Where should we install it right over the rear axle? Long bed truck

The king pin and capture jaws of the hitch should be right over the top of your rear axle or slightly in front of it. Since you already have rails installed, the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch - Dual Jaw - 18,000 lbs # BWRVK3255 will be an easy installation. It has the easily adjustable head with the pivot arm location options so you get the proper height and cab clearance you need. It is ideal to have the king pin slightly in front of your axle, however if it needs to be even slightly behind for cab clearance that will be acceptable. Because you have a long box, slightly in front of the axle is my recommendation.
