How to Install a P3 Brake Controller on a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 With Factory Trailer Tow Package
Question:
I recently purhased the P3 and have been looking at the installation instructions. My truck is a 2008 Ram 2500 and has the blue four pin connector under the dash but it also has a separate blue brake wire running from under the dash all the way back to the 7 pin trailer plug. What do I need to do?

Expert Reply:
On your 2008 Dodge Ram 2500 you should be able to plug the vehicle specific wiring adapter # 3020-P, into the blue 4 wire connector under the dash, and other end into the Tekonsha P3 # 90195. The extra wire you have found should not be needed.
If the blue wire you found was severed from the factory connector and is connected to the correct terminal in the 7-Way at the rear of the vehicle you will need to sever the blue wire in the # 3020-P connector and attach the blue wire that was severed to this wire, to activate the trailer brakes with the brake controller.
