How To Install A Brake Controller On A 2015 Chevrolet Traverse

Question:

I just purchased the C24VV. And thought it was coming with the harness to plug directly into my 2015 Chevy Traverse. Can you tell me my options in hooking this brake control to my car. I do have a factory harness that was included in my car, can I splice the break crontrol wires and hook to my harness if so what wires go where?

In order to install a brake controller like the Curt TriFlex Trailer Brake Controller part # C24VV on your 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, you first want to get a universal wiring harness like the Universal Wiring Adapter for Curt Trailer Brake Controllers part # C51515 and a set of wire connectors such as the Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector part # DW05744-10.

You can then begin the installation by attaching the wires from the brake controller to the pre-ran wiring harness on your vehicle. The wires will generally be taped together underneath the driver's side kick panel. There will be 4 wires you need to attach to one another. I have attached the proper connections for you below.

The red wire from the brake controller will need to be hooked up to the white wire on the vehicle's harness. The white wire from the brake controller will need to be attached to the black wire on the vehicle's harness. The blue wire from the brake controller will need to be attached to the dark blue wire on the vehicle's harness and the black wire from the brake controller will need to be attached to the red/black wire on the vehicle's harness.

In order to test these connections, you can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 by probing each of the wires on the vehicle's harness while that function is activated on the vehicle.
