Recommended Fifth Wheel Hitch For 2017 Ram 3500 With Short Bed And Facftory Tow Package

Question:

Hello from Texas looking at a Riverstone 37 RL or a cedar creek champagne 38 EL. Will up load specs. Looking at a ram deisel 1 ton single wheel 4x4 with a 6.4 bed. Would appreciate any advice on these combinations and hitch the truck has a hitch prep too . Thank you.

If you are buying a Ram 3500 with the factory tow package we have a couple of fifth wheel options that will work great for you

The fifth wheel I recommend for your truck is the Demco Hijacker Autosklide # DM8550035. The head for this slider automatically slides toward the tailgate when you are making turns and returns when you straighten out. The front to rear travel for this hitch is 14 inches. This is a lot easier than exiting the truck to manually pull a lever to release the slider like most others do.

You would also use the adapter rails # DM6099 for this hitch. This adapter just drops into the puck in the bed and lock in place and provides mounting rails for the hitch. I have attached a link to an installation video for this hitch on a 2017 Ram 3500 you can check out.

Another one of the fifth wheel hitches I recommend is the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # BWRVK3670. This is a 20,000 lb sliding fifth wheel hitch and it fits in the truck bed receiver pucks. This hitch has 12 inches of travel front to back so you can make those tight turns.

If you need a 7-way trailer wiring harness in the bed of your truck I recommend part # DM8555002.

When working with electrical connectors I recommend using dielectric grease like part # 11755. This keeps dirt and moisture out of the electrical connections and helps prevent corrosion.
