What kind of adhesive is used and how does it last on the vehicle?

The adhesive on the mirror # KSC088 has a thick pad-like material that will allow it to conform to slight curves in the mounting surface. Basically the material will compress slightly to match the curvature of the window so that the adhesive will apply uniformly to the surface.
It's a very strong double-sided tape basically. It's going to last a very long time.
