Prodigy Trailer Brake Controller Installation in 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500
Question:
I have a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 4wd 4.8 v8. We are looking to buy the 7 wire wiring package to tow a camper as well as a trailer brake control assembly. Looked on your YouTube and saw that we needed the ETBC7, 90885 and the 3025-P. I was looking at my owners manual and it says that the truck is equipped with a 6 wire trailer towing harness, does that require other or additional parts? We are planning on buying the parts from you, just wanting to be sure we get the right parts that are needed.

We can help you with the 7-way socket and other items needed to install a trailer brake controller such as the Prodigy P2 # 90885 in your 2001 Silverado.
Many Silverados came with a factory 7-way already installed but if your does not have this and instead has a bundle of wires tucked up behind the rear bumper/spare tire you will just need # PK11898 to install the 7-way socket, harness and mounting bracket. If your truck has a round plug with a cap (instead of a bundle of wires above the spare tire) then instead use part # 30955 which will connect to that round plug.
In addition to the P2 # 90885 you will need wiring adapter # 3025-P. You do not need the # ETBC7 kit.
