Recommended Roof Rack for Caribou Truck Bed Pop-Top Camper
Question:
Can you recommend a roof rack for my caribou 6.5 outfitter pop top camper to carry a canoe?

Expert Reply:
For your Caribou Pop-Top truck bed camper you might like the Swagman Roamer LT Roof Rack # S80510. This rack features square steel bars with a 150-lb capacity and it includes mounting hardware. This can be used on camper tops so long as they are not the 1-piece plastic type.
If you prefer a rack that offers adjustable bar positions then a track-type system could do the trick. The Rhino-Rack Roof Rack System # Y01-130 offers a substantial 220-lbs rating thanks to its heavy-duty 59-inch crossbars and locks are included. The 63-inch tracks give you lots of placement choices.
Since this is a track-based rack, the load from your canoe will be more evenly distributed over the entire camper top rather than on just 4 specific mounting points as with the Roamer. For a heavier item like a canoe this feature makes this rack the better choice.
