Tips on How to Wire a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta TDI SportWagen with Curt Trailer Wiring Harness

I have a 2009 Jetta TDI Sportwagen that I put one of your hitch mounts on but am leary about installing the wiring when every one in town will not touch it. I went to VW and they said it is a single wire to the tail lights that uses different voltage to operate the different lights. Is this the PWM wiring the you mentioned in Casey C question? And if so, How do I wire this car

The information we have for the 2009 VW Jetta Sportwagen is that it has a 3-wire system that requires the Curt Circuit Protected Powered Converter, # C59236. However, we recommend testing the wiring ahead of time using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to determine the functions of the taillight wires.

If you have separate wires for turn signals, taillights, and brake lights then you have a 3-wire system and will need # C59236 and follow the installation instructions exactly.
