What Is The Tallest 5th Wheel Hitch For A 2017 Ford F-350

Question:

Hello! I just upgraded my truck to a 2017 Ford F-350 DRW crew cab. I took my Reese Ford Custom 25K hitch from my old 2016 Super Duty and it fits in the factory pucks just fine on the new truck. The problem is the new truck is a few inches taller in the bed rails and when I hook up my fifth wheel camper, the king pin comes too close to the sides for my comfort. My Reese is already at its highest setting now 17.25 inches. What are my options to make my existing hitch taller ? Do I need to get a new hitch? Many thanks for your help!!

I have two options that will allow for you to gain additional clearance between the tongue of your trailer and bedrails of your truck. The first option I have for you is the easiest and least expensive. Many kingpins have adjustable height settings therefore, you will need to be sure the kingpin is at it's highest setting by placing the pin box on the mounting holes closest to the bottom of the mounting brackets.

If the kingpin is already at it's highest setting, you will need a new 5th wheel hitch with a taller profile. For this, I recommend using the Demco Hijacker UMS Double Pivot 5th Wheel Hitch part # DM8550033 as this has the highest height adjustment (19") of all of our 5th wheel hitch designed to fit the Ford prep packages on your 2017 Ford F-350.

I have included a video review of this 5th wheel hitch for you.
