Strong Roof Rack to Carry a Roof Mount Bike Rack on a 2016 Toyota Highlander

Question:

We are considering moving to a roof rack from a hitch mount bike rack. I am looking at the Thule UpRide TH599000. It says that it fits most roof racks via a universal mounting system. What do you recommend I use for a roof rack to attach the Sidearms to? It doesnt have to be Thule. We have a 2016 Toyota Highlander without any existing rails. We are of course looking for strength, but also trying to keep the cost down.

The best roof rack option that you can use on your 2016 Toyota Highlander that will enable you to also use the Thule UpRide # TH599000 is the Rhino-Rack as it gives you some great quality aero-style bars at a lower price point than some of the comparable brands.

For this setup you will want to use the Crossbars # RRVA126B-2, the Leg Kit # RRRCH4, and the Fit Kit # RRRCP37-BK. Even though Rhino-Rack roof racks are great, you do lose the ability to get everything keyed alike.

The Rhino-Rack option can handle up to 220 lbs. You will want to check your owner's manual though to see what the roof weight capacity is for your Highlander as that is most likely the limiting factor.

I have attached some review videos that you can check out as well.
