Recommended 5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch for 2017 Ram 3500 w/ Factory Rail Kit

I have a customer with a 2017 Doge 3500 dually who pulls a car hauler. He has the tow prep package in his car, what would you recommend?

If your 2017 Ram 3500 has the factory rail kit and an 8 foot bed, I recommend looking at the Curt Q24 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch # C16545-16021. This hitch is designed specifically for the factory rail kit on the Ram and will mount directly to the 4 receiver pucks built into the underbed rails. It features a nice 2-jaw locking system and a 4 inch height adjustment. The hitch will provide a gross towing weight capacity of 24,000 pounds.

If the Ram 3500 has a 6 foot bed, I instead recommend a sliding hitch like the B&W # BWRVK3670. This will also mount directly to the factory rail kit but will provide 12 inches of front to back travel to allow for necessary cab clearance when making sharp turns.

I also recommend installing a 5th-Wheel Wiring Harness like the Curt # C56000. This will provide a 7-Way connector in the bed of the truck for easy hookup with the trailer. I have included an installation video for you to review.
