When choosing the correct weight distribution system for your 6155 lb gross weight trailer and Chevy Silverado 1500, the weight in the bed of your truck is a factor. Weight Distribution systems are rated for total tongue weight which is the loaded tongue weight of your trailer as well as any cargo behind the rear axle of your truck.

Based on most tongue weights being between 10 and 15% of your total trailer weight, I recommend the Reese Steadi-Flex Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion - 10K GTW, 1K TW # RP66559 which uses automotive grade brake pad material to stabilize trailer sway. This is an easy system to install and use. We tested this system with an empty flat bed trailer and it worked incredibly well.

For either system, you will need a hitch ball like # A-90 for 2 inch or # 19286 for 2-5/16 inch.
