Can the Offset Convert-A-Ball 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter be Converted to the Straight Adapter
Question:
I have a CAB-C5GX1216 and would like to convert it to a GAB-C5G. I would like to do away with the extender part of the CAB-C5GX1216. Can the 1216 adapter middle part be removed to looked like the GAB-C5G. I want to do the conversion since I would be using a different truck and do not need the extender piece of the gooseneck. If this can be converted, are you able to give directions. Thank you.

You don't have to convert the adapter that you have. It can still be used despite the bed length of the truck. The only thing the offset does is increase the distance between the back of the truck and the trailer which is more likely to be needed on long bed (as well as flatbed) trucks. The offset does not increase the turning clearance.
But if you wanted to do it anyway so that you have an option for either the offset or straight adapter you would need replacement boot # C5G-BOOT. It installs the same way as the offset one does. Just remove the offset part of the adapter you have and put this boot in its place.
