Recommended Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver And Bike Rack For 2017 Subaru Crosstrek
Question:
I would like to install the trailer hitch without having it visible after install. My question is how do you pin the bike rack/trailer if you dont have access due to the facia/bumper cover being in the way? I dont plan on driving around with tow ball/bike rack. on all the time Thanks

For your 2017 Subaru Crosstrek, I recommend the EcoHitch Invisi Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 306-X7203. This hitch installs behind the factory knock out for trailer hitch so an extremely clean look when not in use. When you are ready to use, simply remove the plastic knock-out portion of the bumper and you will have the access you need for the pin or hitch lock for your bike rack. Many bike racks use a threaded hitch pin for the anti-rattle feature and you can use a ratchet under your vehicle's bumper to quickly and easily install that pin.
For an easier install, you may want to consider the Thule Helium Pro 2 Bike Rack - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting - Aluminum # TH9042PRO which uses a different style pin that won't require you to get under the vehicle at all. As long as there is 4-1/2 inches from the hitch pin hole to the outside of your bumper, you can simply use the dial. This rack comes with that integrated hitch lock as well as an integrated cable lock to secure your bikes.
