The Edge Insight CTS2 Comprehensive Gauge Display - 5" Color Touch Screen with Swipe # EP84130 allows you to simply swipe for the different views on the display including the gear status. I've attached a video that shows this.

Does the edge insight cts2 84130 monitor exhaust gas temp right out of the box or do i need to purchase and install a probe.

It just depends on what model truck you have. Most newer model trucks (around 2017 to current) will have stock probes for monitoring EGT so you could see those temps right out of the box with the Edge # EP84130. If your truck is older than this though you would likely need to add the probe/sensor with part # EP98620.
