Trailer Hitch for Kodiak Trailblazer T277FS 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

I have a 2008 Kodiak Trailblazer 5th wheel trailer Mod# T277FS that I would like to install a receiver hitch on for towing a boat. Is there a hitch receiver that is available that would work for my application? There are I-Beam frame rails that extend to the rear of the trailer to which the existing bumper is welded. I believe they are 5inch I-beams.

We do offer both bumper-mount and frame-mount hitches specifically intended for RV and trailer applications like your Kodiak Trailblazer 5th wheel. All are shown on the linked page.

Some RV bumpers are welded securely enough to allow use of a bumper-mounted hitch like # UF35-946402. Other can use a frame-mounted hitch like # C13701 or # C13702, both of which fit frame widths from 18- to 51-inches. Either hitch can be bolted or welded on. Part # C13701 provides 2-inches of height drop for the receiver, which can be helpful when towing with a taller RV.

You will just want to measure the trailer frame outside width to confirm compatibility; if wider than 51-inches we do show other options on the page. You will also want to check with the trailer maker using your VIN to confirm that either bumper- or frame-mount hitches can be used on your particular RV.

Laws do vary by state concerning the towing of a trailer with a trailer so it will also be a good idea to check with the highway patrol in the area where you intend to travel.
