Need to know the measurements for the placement of the rails and will I have to drill the frame to install it on a 1998 dodge 2500 short bed and will this hitch work on this truck.

The Pro Series slider 5th wheel trailer hitch # PS30121 will fit your 1998 Dodge Ram 2500 short bed with the proper installation kit.

For a universal kit you can use # RP30035. I have included a link to the right to the instructions that explain where and how to measure for rail placement.

For a custom installation kit that requires less drilling and installs in less time use # HT31404-686.
