7-Way Adapter Recommendation for 1997 Ford F-150 with 4-Way

Question:

1997 Ford F150 I have the standard 4 prong light wire that came from factory. I still use it for my trailer and still need it. I just purchased a tow dolly and the has electric brakes with the 7 prong male plug, I am not intending on using the electric brakes but I dont want to modify the plug incase I ever do want them. Can I use the new 7 prong socket on my pickup just for tow dolly light, keep the 4 prong for standard trailer lights? Thanks so much

What you are in need of is the part # 37185. This plugs into the 4-way of your truck and gives you both a 7-way and a 4-way for your trailer to attach to. It also can be used for if you wanted to add electric brakes to your trailer in the future, but if not needed you just simply would need to tape up the extra wires as they wouldn't be needed.
