Recommend Ball Mount For Draw-Tite 75751 On 2010 Ford Escape
Question:
What would you recommend for the correct rise/ ball mount receiver using Draw-Tite 75751? As I understand that the aftermarket hitch sits lower to the ground than the factory installed hitch. Doesnt this mean I would need a ball mount that has more rise and than the standard 3/4 rise and 2 to get a good tow height with the trailer tongue?

The recommended ball mount for your 2010 Ford Escape is the Draw-Tite Ball Mount, part # 2923. This ball mount works for most folks, but you can measure for yourself to see the exact rise or drop you need. When we installed the Draw-Tite on a 2011 Escape with stock tires, we found that the inside top of the receiver tube was 17 inches above the ground. To determine the rise or drop needed, measure the distance from the underside of the trailer coupler to the ground (while the trailer is level.) The difference is the amount of rise or drop you'll need. If the hitch height is taller than the coupler, you'll need a drop if the coupler is taller, you'll need a drop. I've linked to an FAQ article that explains this fully.
In addition to a ball mount, you will also need Pin and Clip, part # PC3. For added security, you could go with Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, part # e98880.
I have linked an FAQ on choosing the correct ball mount. You will also find a video review of the Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock, part # 7683.
