Your Reese Weight Dist Shank - 12-1/4" Long - 2" Drop to 6-1/2" Rise - 1,500 lbs TW # RP54970 will work great, but you will need to change out the rest of your system. When you account for the total tongue weight, you will need to take the weight of the tongue of your trailer when fully loaded and add to that any weight behind the rear axle of your towing vehicle. That cargo weight also acts as tongue weight for your weight distribution system to carry.
I recommend the Reese Strait-Line Weight Distribution w Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 12,000 lbs GTW, 1,200 lbs TW # RP66074. This is the best weight distribution system in my opinion because it actively fights against sway by design to keep your trailer straight behind you and has micro adjustment ability to make the perfect ride. The dual cams are adjustable as well as the chains. The brackets are designed to give you the best options. I've attached some videos to assist.
You will need a hitch ball like # 19286 for this system.
