Question:
I have an F-150 2017 five-and-a-half foot bed, a 15K Reese slider, what else do I need to put on my trailer do you recommend and do you think I should get rid of my slider or can I still use that?

To tow a fifth-wheel trailer with a 5-1/2 foot bed on your 2017 Ford F-150, you will need to use a Sidewinder, though please keep in mind it is not recommended to use a Sidewinder with a sliding hitch. A great option to replace your current sliding fifth-wheel hitch is the fixed Reese # RP30928.
If you need the industry standard rails in the bed of your 2017 F-150, I recommend the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails, # RP56034-53, which will make for the easiest installation process.
Sidewinders are designed to replace the existing pinbox on your trailer, so you are going to need to find your current pinbox number to choose its replacement. I have added a link to a help article for you which has a chart showing the correct replacement pin boxes based on their number, as well as a link to our Sidewinders.
