Trailer Wheels For 1977 Boler Trailer With Diameter Hole Too Large
Question:
hey there, Im looking to replace my tires and rims to my 1977 Boler trailer. i bought two 175 80R13 5 lug. When i got them home the diameter hole was to big. original is 2 1/2 inch and the new ones were about 4 inch diameter hole. The five lug nuts fit in fine but i didnt want to try and drive just on the bolts. I read another question on the same issues and could use some clarification or alternate choices. thanks for your time.

The tires you have will actually work just fine if I am reading your question correctly. The pilot hole diameter in the middle does not make a difference on the trailer wheels. Trailer wheels are lug-centered so they are only kept in place by the lugs by design. They differ from vehicle wheels that are hub centric for proper function again based on design. If you want to cover that pilot hole, you can use the Phoenix USA QuickTrim Hub Cover for Trailer Wheels - 5 on 4-1/2 - ABS Plastic - Chrome - Qty 1 # QT545C or if you can get the true pilot hole diameter a cap like the Americana Trailer Wheel Center Cap - Stainless Steel - 4.25" to 4.27" Pilot # AM90077.
