Why Are Some Bike Racks Approved for Use at Rear of RV and Others are Not

Question:

Hi - Im a little confused as to why some of your bike racks say they cant be used on a motorhome. My diesel pusher RV rides smoother than most cars - what is it about an RV that can cause a problem with a bike rack? Thanks for your help-

At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few bike racks were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use.

I attached a link to a page that has all of the RV approved bike racks we carry as well.

The most popular option is the Swagman Dispatch part # S44FR which I attached a review video for you to check out. This is a platform bike rack designed to fit a 2 inch trailer hitch.
