Are Heat Shrink Butt Connectors Included With the SMI Air Force One Supplemental Braking System
Question:
Im interested in DIY install of a Blue Ox base Pl and Air Force One on a 14 Honda CR-V / Newmar Freightliner Chassis MH. I have viewed your video and it looks straight forward - great job and fortunate youhave the 14 CR-V as an example. Question is re: the various electrical connectors mentioned in the video - are they included in the AFO kit or do I need additional ones? e.g. heat shrink butts Thanks - and again nice job w/ install videos and instructions

Thank you for the compliments on the install videos. I too think that our install and video team do a great job at providing people with excellent instructions.
The SMI Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motor Homes with Air Brakes # SM99243 that you are interested in does come with all of the butt connectors that you will need for installation, but they are basic ones and not the heat shrink version. The Deka Heat Shrink Butt Connector that is mentioned in the video (at the 9:40 mark) can be found on our site with part # DW05744-5 for a quantity of 5 or part # DW05744-10 for a quantity of 10. You can use either the butt connectors provided in the kit or the heat shrink version instead if you would like.
The Blue Ox Base Plate Kit # BX2258 is a great choice to use on your 2014 Honda CR-V and will give you a nice clean look when you remove the arms when not flat towing.
Keep in mind that you will also need (if you don't already have them) a Tow Bar, Safety Cables, Wiring for Lights, and possibly a High-Low Adapter.
For a tow bar that is compatible with the Blue Ox Kit # BX2258 I recommend going with the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar # BX7380. This tow bar has a weight capacity of 6,500 lbs so it will easily pull your CR-V with no worries. It also comes with Safety Cables so that is one less thing we have to worry about.
When it comes to the wiring for lights on your CR-V I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This is a great option because it will not affect the wiring on your CR-V and it also provides an easy way to connect the wiring to your RV.
Not every flat towing setup requires the use of a high-low adapter, but if you need one I have attached a link to our selection of adapters for you to look through. Basically you will want to make sure that your tow bar will not have to adjust up or down more than 3 inches.
I have attached installation videos on these additional products for you to view as well.
