Troubleshooting Hyper Flashing When Using Turn Signals On Trailer Connected To 2010 Honda Odyssey
Question:
Hi, Ive installed the Curt kit for my 2010 Honda Oddesy. I didnt have a test kit so I waited until I had a trailer. On the way when I started using the turn signals, they were all flashing very fast. I thought thats how it was supposed to work with the kit installed. I found a trailer to buy and hooked up the trailer wiring connector and all turn and brake plus running lights work fine but I still have the fast blinkers. What is wrong? I did check and there is no lights out. Thanks

Sometimes with trailers there is hyper flashing when using certain functions specifically if you have LED lights on your trailer. If you have LED lights on the trailer, I recommend installing the Diamone LED Light Bulb Load-Resistors - Qty 2 # DI34ZR on your trailer turn signal wires. This creates more power draw similar to incandescent bulbs as LED's have less draw and that can create the issue you mentioned.
If you don't have LED lights, then I recommend you put a tester like # PTW2993 on your trailer plug and run through each function when the trailer is disconnected then test that same wire when the trailer is connected. If it works with the tester correctly, then install the load resistors. If it doesn't, then you will want to check your ground to make sure you have a clean ground connection with no rust or corrosion.
