Trailer Brake Controller and 7-way Installation on 2016 Kia Sorento EX V6
Question:
Hi I have a 4 pronged tow package up to 5000lbs on my vehicle. But we need to have a 7 prong and electric brakes added. I went to the dealership to do this and they said they cant. They told me to call uhaul and have them do it. Uhaul said that they cant do the kia Sorrento and said that their system showed I needed to take it to my local authorized dealer. Im confused. Is it possible to get it done? Why would I get the run around. Whats the safest and most economical way to get both done.

We can help you with a 7-way wiring conversion and brake controller installation for your 2016 Kia Sorento EX so you can tow a trailer with electric brakes.
Since you already have a working 4-pole flat type wiring harness on the Sorento to convert this to the 7-way format that supports a trailer brake circuit, and to install a brake controller like the Prodigy P2 # 90885, all you need is our brake controller installation kit # ETBC7, and the controller too, of course.
The # ETBC7 kit includes the 7-way socket, wiring, connectors and all the parts you need to install the brake controller and the 7-way. I have linked a video showing the # ETBC7 installed in a 2016 Sorento. A helpful article is included too.
On some vehicles a brake controller can be installed by merely plugging in a single wiring harness. Since your vehicle is not designed for this type of installation the other service providers perhaps shied away from the slightly more involved hardwire install.
