Yes, I would be happy to assist you in picking out wiring for your 2016 Toyota Highlander XLE.

If your Highlander came with the factory tow package (there is a converter under the dash) then I recommend going with the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package # HM11141825 which will simply plug into the connector at the rear of your Highlander.

If your Highlander did not come with the factory tow package (no converter under the dash) then I recommend going with the Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118449 instead. I have attached a video of this wiring option being installed on a similar 2016 Highlander for you to reference.

Some trailer have brakes installed on them. If your pop up camper has brakes and requires the use of a brake controller then you will need to install the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 along with a brake controller. I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 as it is easy to setup and use. I have attached a video of both of these being installed on a 2013 Highlander for you to check out.

Considering that you said you are going to be purchasing a trailer hitch I would like to recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13200 as it has a great look and will allow you to still install the spare tire as long as your rim is steel.

You will also need a ball mount and hitch ball to complete your towing setup. The etrailer.com Ball mount Kit # 989900 is a great option as it includes 2 ball mounts - one with a Rise of 3/4" and a Drop of 2", and the other with a Rise of 2-3/4" and a Drop of 4" - 2 Hitch Balls - one has a 1-1/7" diameter and the other has a 2" diameter - and also a hitch pin and clip. To secure this investment you might also be interested in a Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # 7683 to help deter theft.
