Troubleshooting Tail Lights with Tekonsha Kit # 119250KIT on a 2015 Volkswagen Golf SportWagen

Question:

i used the 2-wire BTT configuration but now the issue is the tail lights never turn on, only turn signal and brake light. not only is this unsafe it is illegal. can this unit be used with this car with tail lights functional?

In the instructions for the ZCI Circuit Protected Vehicle Wiring Harness w/ 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector and Installation Kit # 119250KIT under the INPUT SENSOR - DETERMINATION heading there is an asterisk after the BTT configuration explanation. If you look at the bottom of that box the asterisk says that you may need to route the tail wire to the rear license plate illumination circuit and/or brake to center high stop light (see attached picture).

I recommend taking this step as it should help you with your tail lights. If it does not just let me know and I will be more than happy to help you troubleshoot further.
