Will Thule Evolution Cargo Box Fit Factory Crossbars on 2016 Toyota Highlander

Question:

I purchased a Thule Evolution 6410 from Sears last year and had it mounted on the factory installed crossbars of a 2007 Toyota Highlander. The box bounced so bad on my trip from NJ to Cape Code MA that I had to stop and purchase ratchet straps to stop it. Thought it was overloaded but it bounces when the box is empty or has very little in it. I now have a 2016 Toyota Highlander with factory installed cross bars and will be using the cargo box for vacation on this car. Am I going to have the same issue? Is there something you can recommend that I have installed to hold the box securely and stop the bouncing. I actually had other drivers on the highway signaling to me that my cargo box was bouncing it was very bad. Thanks.

It sounds like the mounting hardware may not be a good fit for your Highlander factory crossbars. We no longer offer the Evolution roof box so I cannot confirm the fit on your newer 2016 Highlander.

I called my contact at Thule and they said they cannot confirm the Evolution fit on your vehicle.

If you need new mounting hardware, the Replacement Hardware Kit for Searsbox Cargo Box # TH05603 is the correct fit. If you determine you need to move the mounting locations for a better support, you can drill new holes and then use gasket sealant # LT37467 to seal the other holes.
